Practice
I provide approximately
100 reports annually for solicitors, occupational health physicians,
and the Courts. In the civil category, there is a fairly even split
between Claimant and Defendant, with an increasing amount of my instructions
being as a single joint expert witness.
My work in
this field includes the following:
- Psychiatric
reports in civil cases for compensation following personal injury,
especially post traumatic stress disorder.
- Psychiatric
injury at work and assessments in disability discrimination claims (including
for the Employment Tribunal).
- Testamentary
capacity.
- Medical negligence.
- Reports to Occupational Health
Departments on questions such as ill health retirement or the
Disability Discrimination Act.
- Reports to the General Medical and Dental Councils on practitioners
facing Fitness to Practice hearings.
- When required,
I attend court to give oral evidence, and have done so on many
occasions.
I have undertaken
specialist training in the use of the Hare Psychopathy Checklist
Revised (PCL-R). In 2004 I obtained the Certificate of Expert Witness
Accreditation from Cardiff University.
I am a member
of the Society of Expert Witnesses and the Expert Witness Institute.
I am listed in the Sweet & Maxwell's Directory of Expert Witnesses
, the U.K. Register of Expert Witnesses, the Association
of Personal Injury Lawyers database and the AVMA database.
